If I recall correctly I think 8-bit sound at 22Khz is what Benedini used, and I agree that is more than adequate. We are far more constrained in terms of quality to the condition of the original recordings themselves, the relatively tiny size of the speakers that can be used in a model, poor accoustics, etc...
Not just benedini. Pretty much everyone used that setup. Clark, Elmod, Taigen, Heng Long, games like War Thunder. 8-bit, 22Khz accross the board. Only Open Panzer works with 16-bit. Which I can tell is mostly cause the Audio Library is rather particular about that. Like it only accepts 16-bit, 44khz for Wav files, though is a smidge more flexible with Raw and from Flash... Ofcourse just copying what others do is bad engineering. So i also did some of my own digging into the sounds. The Frequency Spectrum of RC sound-effects is dominated by low-frequency high-amplitude rumbling and booms, Mid-frequency mid-amplitude clangs and hisses and quite a bit of Hard-Clipping when it comes to explosions. The audible frequencies are well below the Nyquist Frequency if using 22Khz sampling (though 11Khz would be too low), while the lack of low-amplitude high-frequency audio renders no tangible benefit to using 16-bit, Not helping either is that unless you use a high quality Audio DAC you will only get an effective resolution of about 1 bit less than the DAC on chip (9-bit for AVR-Dx, 11 bit for teensy3). From this the conclusion is that yeah: 8-bit, 22Khz is definitely the sweet-spot for this kind of stuff. Though the presence of Hard-clipping (which results in harsh-sound high-frequency odd harmonics) and the use of a on-chip DAC peripheral (processor noise) does render the use of a Low-Pass filter as probably being a good thing. ...Can you tell that I also dabble in Audio Electronics?

Hi Wankel,
I've added an option for track recoil on IR hit received, you'll see a checkbox for it in OP Config on the Driving tab under the Track Recoil setting.
It's important also to keep in mind, that the track recoil will only occur if your tank is stopped - whether when firing the cannon or receiving a hit. If either of those things happen while you're driving around, there will be no track recoil. This is to protect the model's geartrain.
This change requires you to update both OP Config and the TCB firmware to the latest version (v0.94.04). This particular change will also delete all the settings on the TCB, so before you update the firmware you should read your settings into OP Config, then flash the firmware, then re-write your settings.
I've not changed the light sequence for IR hit, that is more work than I felt like doing, sorry...
Finally, I don't have a TCB or model to test these changes on, so if you could verify that the track recoil works when it receives an IR hit, I'd appreciate if you'd let me know.
You are amazing, thank you very much sir! The light sequence is not an issue, dont worry about it. In 3 more posts you will be 1337, definitely checks out!

You mean thanks "Jürgen"! Here are a couple threads I found on RCGroups about the same issue that Jürgen has mentioned: Taranis QX7 / X8R wont bind. Help!Qx7 & X8R not binding - both international versionI have not kept up with all the developments in radios and receivers the last many years, so I don't have any recommendations to give you. I'm sure there are many options, but as usual, Google is your friend. Things have certainly got a lot more complicated from the old days when you just had to have a matching crystal. For model tanks all this extra complexity is overkill, but I guess it's the only option nowadays.

Thanks Luke. Any other receivers that would work with the old firmware radio? I can return this and get another. Hard time finding an xr4 anymore. If nothing out there will have to do as you suggest

FrSky changed the Firmware for the Transmitter and Reciever, because saftey issues. I think your Transmitter use the old V1-Firmware and the X8R have the newer V2-Firmware... Either update the transmitter to the V2 firmware and all your receivers as well, or downgrade the X8R to the old V1 firmware.

It's been a while but I did bind two X4R's to my taranis Q7 radio. Probably 4 years ago. I got a X8R ACCST and having some issues binding. Plugged TBC wire into SBUS pins on X8R and powered up with FS button held on when trying to bind..red and green lights on receiver. But not binding. On the radio tried various things and can't get it to bind? Again, probably missing something As I scroll down after creating a new model these are the options.. External RF Mode Options: SBUS/DSM2/R9M/R9MAccess/XJT/PPM Ch Range Ch1-16 Internal RF Mode: ACCST D16 Ch Range ch1-16 Rx 04 (model number) [Bnd] [Rng] Receiver 1 Bnd 2 Bnd 3 Bnd Looked at a few videos but not showing exactly what I am seeing on mine.. Any sequence that is correct.. if this is familiar would be appreciated:)

Totally understand. Curious what your track recoil is currently set at?
Im currently at 25 150 with taigen metal gears and brushless motors.

I didn't think I would like the effect based on HL tanks but it is actually cool. Not that a Tiger Tank rocks back on firing but it is a nice visual effect with the cannon recoil! I like 15% and 200 MS. Yes TCB makes it a viable option!
