Testing out the blade, broke one drive sprocket flange so that has been beefed up. Need some clips to hold the lift rope in the pulleys but otherwise it worked well.

That is an impressive model. Wish I saw that before starting! I didn't think 3d printed shafts could handle the loads in the suspension and gearbox, that model weighs just about the same as my AT-T.

Prototype is 99% done. Sound smoke and lights are all working. I will have to get a video soon but for now here it is with a HL Panzer for scale.

Hello The track pins are made from 1.8mm hard stainless steel wire. I straightened the wire and cut them to length with a crude jig. Next time I would try to find straight sections as bending it was not fun.
All components were sourced from AliExpress

Hi Luke, all is well with my TCB thanks! (which is good because the new German ones are more money).
The gear pressed onto the motor shaft on one of my Chinese gearboxes slid off but I was able to get running again with some solder. Ran out a battery today with no major issues (other than it being far too fast)
Have some lower ratio motors on the way.
Here's the insides and a demonstration of removing the power pack, which only needs 6 screws removed to free up (not counting the wire terminals)

Nearly ready for some drivetrain testing

Thanks for the help! I have ordered some replacements. I just installed today but I will try again. I can snoop the board and everything else appears to be working.

Hi Luke, I think I blew up my smoker port shorting it out while probing for voltage. is there a component I can replace to fix this? I also cant connect to the tcb now, it will tell me to update firmware but using the connect button disconnects right away and flashing returns the attached error followed by a fail message. Thanks!

Hello everyone,
Decided to revisit an idea I had many years ago. I have had lots of fun playing around with 1/10 scale crawlers but always wondered how something tracked would compare. After seeing a render of this beast on ArtStation I contacted the designer and he provided me with the mesh files to use as a reference. The model will feature belt drive units with two speeds and neutral, sound, smoke, lights and a winch. I hope to use one of the onboard motor drivers of the TCB to control the winch, and hopefully somehow control the servo for the gear select also. I have been trying to make this model more repairable then my T-35 which is a bit of a shelf queen. All components have been designed to lift straight out (pogo pins for the decks) and I even plan to separate the drive units from the output shafts. I am nearly complete the preliminary cad work and am almost ready to start printing!

Joe, I should clarify, I dont mean the metal used in the actual numbered tape to use a spring, I mean the coil spring inside the tape measure used to retract the tape. Thats the closest thing i can think of to what I used, any type of metal that isnt actual spring steel wont work. I know because I tried the metal strapping too

Glad you liked the video! It pays to have friends in film school. Interesting that you just completed a 1/10 project, as my next one will be in 1/10 scale also. Be warned my T-35 is more of a show tank than a driver! It hates grass and mine now has so much wear on the sprockets and tracks that I cant drive it anymore. I may fix this and update the files in the future, but making all those track links a second time is much less appealing to me than starting the new project. good luck and I cant wait to see the end result, as of right now I have only seen one other T-35 completed.

Hello Joe!
Glad to see you are making progress, I am always surprised when I see someone who decides to take on this project despite the number of parts! All of my parts were made FDM on my makergear M2, with the exception of the tracks, done on a pair of Flashforge Dreamers. As for the metal in the springs, I had some engineering samples of coiled spring steel at work that fit into the gap. I wouldn't want to use anything else here, it may not retain its shape. I think you could use any spring steel that will fit in there that you can get your hands on. ( maybe inside an old tape measure?) I had to double up the springs at the rear to get the tank to balance properly so keep that in mind.
Good luck with the build!

Thank you Dean! This is really great that someone shares his complete build! (any chance on getting the STEP files?)
Sadly not, I didn't use that file type for anything.

Hello everyone! The T-35 is finished, and its done in less than a year! It has been detailed (with some help) to the best of my abilities and is now mechanically reliable enough for me to be satisfied with. Please see below some shots of the finished product. More shots and videos will be posted when I gather all the files for Thingiverse. Let me know what you think!
