OP Display Format Issues
« on: December 29, 2025, 06:58:51 PM »
Hey Luke, Merry Christmas mate.

On my PC I note the display doesnt like showing up all the menu words.

Here is a sample attached. When checking the drop down menu for "updates" simply cant read it.

Is there any simple fix?

Hi Snipah, that's unusual. I have never seen this problem before and unfortunately I can not reproduce it on my end, everything looks as it should on my computers. I was going to suggest you make sure you have the most recent version, but I see from your screenshot that you already do.

I suppose you could try un-instaling it and then re-installing it (by downloading it from the Downloads page), though I doubt that will fix it.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are talking about with the menus?

Thanks Luke, and soon to be Happy New Year to all. Its a fresh install on win 11 running dark theme and I think that is the reason?

The font colour is "white" on some menu items but not all.

Ok, yeah it does seem that Windows is changing the foreground (text color) of certain menus that would normally be black to white, but it has not changed the background to a dark color, at least not in the menus (it seems to be doing so on some of the "Deadband" text boxes on the form itself, but most of them it has not changed).

I've tried to do some reading about how to overcome this in the programming language we're using for OP Config, and it's a pretty deep rabbit hole given the variety of versions of Windows, etc... I'm not sure if it will be possible for me to fix it, but I've made one change that will try to force OP Config to open in Light mode regardless of your user setting. It's available to download as version 0.94.03.

You can try it but I am not holding out much hope. I am unable to accurately test it on my machine because even when I set my Windows theme to dark I don't get the results you do - but that is probably because I'm using Window 10 and not 11.

If this change doesn't work, I know it's annoying, but you may have to just memorize what the menus do and click on them blindly, or I'm afraid temporarily set your Windows theme back to Light.

Well I guess sometimes small miracles do happen! Now I will try to not see that the Deadband ranges are missplaced and overlapping the selection boxes.  :o  ::)

But you haven't complained about those and again I can't recreate that on my end so I will hope the layout on the other pages hasn't gone crooked either, or at least that you're able to work around it.

Complained? I thought it more supporting the community spirit  :D

Also it appears it was just the menu's I could not read.
Everything else is functional mate.

Strange how a theme buggered it up though.
I ended up with a batch of 26 of the OP boards (with good chips) in the fire sale and have not installed all of them.

New PC just setting up stuff.

You are right, that was a poor choice of words. I am glad you brought to my attention the issue with the dark theme, and even more glad we were able to correct it. That was not a complaint at all. And you were kind enough to overlook the the mis-placed labels, which was generous on your part!

That's quite the accomplishment to have acquired 26 boards, I've never had that many myself! You've got your work cut out for you to get tanks for all of them.  :D

I have over 50+ 1/16 tanks in various states of build. Now I am semi retired I am hoping to get more time on them.

Also sorry on my part as I was smiling as I typed my reply on the choice of words and hope you didnt read it as grumpy me. hahahaha. Just poking a bit of fun.

Further, I certainly did not see any misplaced labels? I am guessing you have corrected in the new version?

Current project is a 3d PT-109 in 1/16 scale, (approx 1.5mtrs in length)

I was hoping to use an OP board but cant remember if you ever made it suitable for "marine: control use?
any hints or tips I could read on the subject?

Love the OP board would like to see it continue

Cheers

Brett

It's all good! It's true sometimes some things are lost in translation on the internet, but no harm done.

With regards to the labels, I was referring to some that are visible in your screenshots. I've attached your image alongside how it is supposed to look. It looks correct on my screen but my resolution is only 1080p and I'm assuming you have a 4k screen or something, and Windows must be doing some weird scaling. We tried to fix this in OP Config release 0.94 (actually it was user FuzzyJack in this thread). A lot of improvement was made but apparently there are still some quirks.

I think the TCB could absolutely be used in a model boat and I have often thought I would use one if I ever did make a model ship. There is nothing specific that was implemented towards that end but the board is general-purpose enough that you are only limited by your imagination and number of channels you have on your radio. Obviously directional control is no problem, nor are lights and sound. The turret channels could be repurposed for other moving items on board, for example a winch or anchor.
