Problems with the sound of the shot
« on: April 26, 2026, 08:28:00 AM »
Hallo,
Mario

Hello,
I’m new to this forum. I recently fulfilled a childhood dream and bought a Leopard 2A6. Since my goal is full weapon stabilization, I first upgraded the Heng Long TK 6 to a TK-6.1S, only to find out that full stabilization doesn’t work on that model.
That’s how I came across Openpanzer, and I’m excited about the wide range of programming options it offers.
So I’m currently in the process of transferring each function individually to my tank.
Now I’ve run into a problem.
On my Openpanzer with the current firmware 0.94.5, I modified and programmed the Heng Long firing mechanism according to the instructions. At first, the sound output on my Taigen sound module worked even when the shot was fired. Then I continued with the wiring, and while the firing mechanism still worked, the sound output stopped. After resetting the board and restoring the backup, it worked again. But after a reboot, the sound was gone again.
What could be the problem here? Is the sound output not being triggered correctly, or what other issues might there be?
Before you reply, you should know that I studied electrical engineering and am familiar with working with electronic components.
I look forward to your responses.
Mario

Hi Mario, we probably need a little more information before we can troubleshoot this problem. Which Heng Long firing mechanism (Schusseinrichtung) are you using - is it Airsoft, or mechanical recoil? Under the "Mechanical Barrel" section on the Motors tab of OP Config, what is the "Type" selection - is it "Airsoft" or "Mechanical Recoil"?

The Heng Long is an airsoft gun and is set up as such.

The airsoft units have a little switch on them, which I'm sure you saw when you were doing the wiring. This switch is closed at the point when the airsoft has finished "cocking," and that is the signal the TCB is waiting for to play the sound (and also the High Intensity Flash if you are using one of those).

If the airsoft is working, but the sound is not playing, it is possible that this switch is not being activated. Maybe it was moved a little bit when you were re-wiring it, or maybe there is a poor solder joint. The fact that the sound works sometimes but not others, leads me to suspect a poor electrical connection.

Usually the switch can be removed by unscrewing the screw that holds it in place, you could also do so and then verify that it works with an Ohm-meter. It's unlikely the switch itself is defective, but I guess it's possible.

This is my best guess for what might be the cause of what you're experiencing. It could be something else, but at least we know the TCB is not the issue because the airsoft does fire and the sound does work occasionally.

Ich weiß, was du meinst. Ergebnis: Der Taster macht, was er soll.
-----------
I know what you mean. So I removed the switch and operated it manually. The result: The button works as it should. The motor stops, but the sound isn't triggered. If the button isn't pressed while it's removed, the firing function runs continuously.
So it's not the button's fault.
I've just started completely reworking the Openpanzer. The firing function still works. Let's see how it looks once I've set up all the features again.

Ok, you're right, the switch appears to be working correctly. Let me know what result you get when you have set up the features again.
