Yes re-wired and it works. Just odd that on the first toggle the flash and sound happen but no recoil. On the second toggle and after that, all operates properly.
It's just on start-up, for the first one it doesn't recoil. Not really a big deal just curious why that may happen

What you describe is certainly unusual and I will continue to ponder it, but so far I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't recoil correctly from the first try, or why if it doesn't on the first try it should then fix itself on the subsequent tries. In the order of operation in the code, voltage to the mechanical recoil motor is the step that occurs right before the flash and sound, so if the flash and sound occur by definition the motor should be moving. So I really can't think of why it is not working in your case, unless the mechanism itself is bound up to such an extent that the motor can't overcome the friction. But if that were the case one would think it would fail more frequently than just the first time.
So anyway I am stumped to explain what you're seeing, and it may be a quirk that you just have to live with.

True seems odd! I'll just for fun try the new board and see if it happens

Smart App Control Blocks OPZ Settings

Hey Luke,
The OPZ saved setting today wouldn't open it said "Smart App Control blocked an App that may be unsafe"
Wanted to see if this happens on your end too? Worked for me up until a few days ago. Should I turn this off on my computer? Can it be signed/verified? Just want to know the right next step to get it working again + bring it to your attention.
Thanks!

Hi Tom, there's no practical way to get Open Panzer verified by Microsoft. If Windows is preventing you from running the program, then your only option is to turn off Smart App Control.

Okay thanks! Did that and it works. Wondering with the transmission and how it engages upon engine start up. Is it possible to have it "not engaged" on start up?
It seems to make more sense.. as one wouldn't want the transmission engaged when starting then when ready .. engage to run. Totally small point, just curious. Also testing the recoil on a new board just to see if it triggers on first attempt.

The auto engage of the transmission with engine start is useful for those people who don't want to mess with it, or who have limited channels available on their radio for unnecessary functions.
If you want to control it manually, just assign a switch to the Transmission Turn On / Turn Off functions, and then it will be whatever your switch tells it to be.

Again not a big issue. But on another TCB it does the same thing..no recoil on first try then fine!

Hi Tom, that does not surprise me. We know there is nothing wrong with the TCB hardware, since it can perform the recoil every time after the first. That leaves firmware or something mechanical with the recoil unit itself. Your second TCB has the same firwmare, and you are testing on the same recoil unit, so the result is the same.
There is nothing I can think of that would account for the behavior you describe, but I have nevertheless taken a stab in the dark at some modification of firmware that may or may not have anything to do with it. At any rate you can test it. Connect your TCB to your computer, read the settings into OP Config, flash the attached hex file from the Firmware tab selecting "Use your own Hex," then when that is done, re-write your settings back to the TCB.
Then you can try and see what happens.

Smoke Unit
«

Just an idea and not sure if hard to program. Often any engine on start-up emits more smoke. A cool idea would be a "start up"
tab to allow full fan speed for an adjustable amount of seconds . One could also add a rough start up sound to work with the extra smoke until it reduces smoke output at warmed up idle.

Hi Tom, that is not a bad suggestion, however I do not have time for further development on this project, only ongoing support and bug fixes if any are found.
Several years ago when Torro decided to produce the TCB they asked me to create an effect where the smoker "sputters" on startup, and this was implemented (and is still active). It occupies about the first 2 seconds after startup, and the basic idea is something similar to what you propose, but the way it works is that the smoker speed is alternated between max and off for brief intervals, to create "sputtering" or "puffing." It is not terribly effective, because most of the available hobby smoker designs are not reactive enough to make short, abrupt changes in speed very evident.
At any rate, there are no doubt all kinds of various smoker embellishments that could be experimented with, but I am going to leave those for others to work on if they have the desire and ability.

Thanks Luke! Yes maybe somebody can implement that idea
I also agree that the fan on off quickly wouldn't look great. But a higher idle for a preset amount of seconds would give the extra smoke and I feel,
mimic a cold/choked engine. This could be combined with a rough start up sound before settling into the repeat idle.
I appreciate you still looking and maintaining the site! I had a very old PC and when it broke stopped messing with the TCB. I got a new PC to handle a 3D scanner for my sculptures but decided to jump back into the TCB for fun and then found Torro making the board so got one for the tank I had without. Weather is nasty, so it is a fun indoor
thing to mess with again

Trouble binding FrSKY X8R ACCST

It's been a while but I did bind two X4R's to my taranis Q7 radio. Probably 4 years ago.
I got a X8R ACCST and having some issues binding.
Plugged TBC wire into SBUS pins on X8R and powered up with FS button held on when trying to bind..red and green lights on receiver. But not binding.
On the radio tried various things and can't get it to bind? Again, probably missing something
As I scroll down after creating a new model these are the options..
External RF
Mode Options: SBUS/DSM2/R9M/R9MAccess/XJT/PPM
Ch Range Ch1-16
Internal RF
Mode: ACCST D16
Ch Range ch1-16
Rx 04 (model number) [Bnd] [Rng]
Receiver 1 Bnd
2 Bnd
3 Bnd
Looked at a few videos but not showing exactly what I am seeing on mine..
Any sequence that is correct.. if this is familiar would be appreciated:)

FrSky changed the Firmware for the Transmitter and Reciever, because saftey issues.
I think your Transmitter use the old V1-Firmware and the X8R have the newer V2-Firmware...
Either update the transmitter to the V2 firmware and all your receivers as well, or downgrade the X8R to the old V1 firmware.
