K will also install IR. about that; you really make the current rise to 2 to 3A with a 3ohms resistor and a .8A transistor without blowing it?? I will get a 4A transistor just to be sure. what is the range with that setup?
Oui, this is correct, although I admit it is unusual. Using such a high current is necessary to get the range we need. All boards operate the same way. Tamiya uses a 1 ohm resistor so is even more extreme, in my testing that is too extreme and can result in a burned out LED. Heng Long uses 22 ohms, Clark 26 ohm (I tested a TK22), and IBU2 70 ohms.

I tested many resistors and ~3 ohms seemed to give the best tradeoff between range and reliability. Using a lower resistance would eventually burn out the LED, but higher resistances decrease the range. With the 3.3 ohm resistor I did a test where I fired the IR emitter 500 times in a row, with several seconds pause in between, and I did not burn up the IR LED emitter. I tested the range at over 40 feet / 15 meters but the actual distance can of course depend on sunlight and other conditions.

We are able to do this because the IR signal is so short. The IR LED is only "on" for a fraction of a second so it can survive being driven beyond maximum values. If you look at the TCB schematic/bill-of-materials, you will see we actually use a MOSFET (not a transistor) and it can handle several amps of current. Depending on the battery you use current draw should not be much more than 2 amps. But if will be fine if you want to use a transistor rated for higher currents.

To begin with, I want to express my great gratitude
for your contribution to the development of tank modeling. Without
I would not dare to make a serious model of your development. I have a lot of experience in 3D modeling,
but I am nothing more than an amateur in programming.

Photos and videos will be required. And even advice to those who want to repeat the project when there are real results.
I post only the finished result.
Thank you for the kind words Oleg, and I will look forward to seeing your finished tank!

What a beautiful print!!!

What printer did this?

This is very, very high quality work!

hi and thank you very much ! I print them with a simple creality ender pro! i put some modification like linear rail put the calibration is what really make the différence. I have to put photos of the sherman of my son. i have almost finished the two board. I have use version with arduino. they will have most of the option with IR combat. One of them is finished and working fine. i have put taigen sound card. really nice print

I would like to have such skills and experience in designing such models!
Alas, I am too old for this.
I have a lot of projects that I have thought about to the fullest, but I face only one problem - I do not have the knowledge and skills to draw them.

All I can do is solder and design a bit, thanks to LukeZ's advice and answers on this forum.

You are a great guy!

its really nice what you said but i am not the désigner ! I dont have the patience and the program to do that! i get the files at 3dprintedtanks.com. that Guy have designed some tanks. the price of the files are low for the quality of the parts. the manual is perfect, like a tamya. they take long time to assemble but are easy to print and if your printer is calibrated you will have very few corrections to do

And I thought it was your work.
In any case, this is great work. I would like to see photos of your work - in maximum resolution.
I know a holy man who presented to the world an excellent model of the KV-1 tank, in 1:10 scale!
This is great work! And his build guide is incredible!

If my homemade printer would print, at least in half the quality cases, like yours, I would start printing.

I really like the KV-1 tank from the tanks of the USSR, and there are favorite tanks from the Second World War of the USA and Germany.

Greetings, dear!

I have been jealous of your tank and print quality for a very long time, and what can I say?

I'm doing KV-1! Scaled 1:10.

I have a printer with a large print area, and I am printing a project (more precisely, it is already printed by 60%) from this respected author:

https://www.printables.com/model/219806-tank-kv-1-rc-model-110

This is an incredible model!

P.S. I will also find an opportunity to buy from https://www.3dprintedtanks.com/ - the T-34 tank!
Unfortunately, there are still difficulties in paying, but I will overcome this difficulty as well.
And I'm also looking forward to when he makes a model of the IS-2 tank!
