Onboard Motor Driver A & B

The TCB can drive two motors directly using the MOTOR A & B outputs. This option will be listed as “Built-in Driver” in the OP Config program. Each output can source 2 amps max. This is not powerful enough to use them for the main drive motors in a 1/16th scale tank! But they are more than adequate to run turret rotation and barrel elevation motors.

RC Hobby Electronic Speed Controls

The TCB has eight RC outputs, and numbers 1-4 are dedicated to:

1. Left tread (or drive channel for cars)

2. Right tread (or steering channel for cars/halftracks)

3. Turret rotation

4. Barrel elevation

Of course you are free to use other sources for those functions, for example you may choose to drive the turret motors with the onboard controllers and the drive motors with a serial controller. Any of these four RC outputs not used for primary functions …

Dual-Motor Serial Controllers

Originally designed for the popular robotics hobby, dual-motor serial controllers are perfect for controlling RC tanks. These devices put two speed controllers onto a single board and can be controlled via serial protocol. This takes up less space than using two distinct RC ESCs, and the connection to the TCB only requires a single cable.

Servos

Servos are literally just a motor, a gearbox, and an electronic speed control stuffed into one small package. They can be used as directly as drive motors so long as A) they are modified for continuous rotation, and B) they don't draw too much current.
