Open Panzer Help / Re: Sabertooth 60a ESC problem with TCB
« on: January 17, 2022, 01:26:57 AM »
Luke,

Many thanks for the swift reply.

I set the baud rate to a different value 9600 then back to the recommended 38400 and now it seems happy.

To save a new thread can I use a linear servo for elevation and still use the pan effect in the same way as a regular servo?

Open Panzer Help / Sabertooth 60a ESC problem with TCB
« on: January 16, 2022, 07:31:26 AM »

Fitting a TCB into our 1/6 king tiger which has an existing Sabertooth 60A ESC 2x60 v1.00.
We get no control via serial (well some eratic control). Sabertooth set as per TCB manual and connected correctly.
TCB set to sabertooth in config.

I have another T34 1/6 with very similar setup using a sabertooth 2x32 and TCB which works fine. I have swapped the TCB's over to eliminat that. The new TCB works fine in the T34 on the 2x32 with the same setting.

Any ideas?

Open Panzer Help / Muzzle flash for 1/6 scale
« on: December 29, 2021, 05:25:40 AM »
On the 1/6 T34 tank I have the stock taigen muzzle flash and it works fine.
Im looking for better options to use on the 1/6 scale King tiger I am putting OP into. Some 1/6 used have adapted camera flash units but no real info out there.

Any electronics wizards that have a good idea that we can try.

Open Panzer Help / Re: Smoker advise for 1/6 needed
« on: December 23, 2021, 01:22:58 AM »
I’m going to add Openpanzer to our second 1/6 tank over Christmas.
The smoker is 24v and has a separate switch which is good for the club events as you can’t accidentally turn it on from the tx.
At the moment it’s not proportional but has separate fan and heater.
How do we tackle this challenge? Op has 12v output so thinking use that main 24v switch for heat and the op for fan with proportional.
Any better ways.

Open Panzer Help / Re: Not enough channel and channel sharing help

Just to confirm, lukes suggestion is workable and easily overlooked. Yes you do tend to move the turret when going for the switches but its a solution for now.

Luke your option to use on and off commands for the smoker and light doesn’t work as when you switch to position 2 middle position the smoker or light then turn off, that’s why toggle works.

Turret stick idea is worth a try, gives 4 more functions but they could be accidentally triggered.
Will give it a go.

Is there any info on the rotary switch you need for the benedini, as Thomas no longer sells them.

Thanks

Open Panzer Help / Not enough channel and channel sharing help
« on: August 25, 2021, 02:02:29 AM »
On the 10ch flysky I have run out of channels to do any more features so looking at creative ways of sharing channels. Suggestions welcome.
Channels are:
Gun fire
MG
Volume up and down on rotary
servo opening hatch on 2nd rotary
Toggle smoke on 3 way switch pos1
toggle light on 3 way pos 3
Engine start on last switch. (dont like auto start much)

I want:
2nd MG sound and light
User sounds ( i understand I can use 6 way rotary switch for this)

I combined smoker toggle with light toggle to free up a channel and that works, but either light is on or smoker is on i want both to work at the same time, eg smoker is on when light is on. its like they are out of sync.

Over to you to tell me what I can try next. Thanks

Luke thanks for the pointers.

We are at bare bones right now, it’s working. Fine tuning to come but the 10 channels have run out fast. I have 2 mgs, 1 is the main, the second on light 2 output which I can get working with the mg but I loose sound. I have the hatch on a servo, light on/ off, smoker on/off, engine start,mg, main gun fire, volume all on switches or dials.

Just introducing my sons tank.
It’s a 1/6 scale Russian T34 76 from mark 1 tanks.
We bought as a project and have rebuilt pretty much the whole thing.

Full metal chassis, cad designed and made in my workshop.
Original motors, tracks and sprockets with modifications.
Control is now a 10 channel fly sky and openpanzer TCB, sabertooth 32amp ESC.
Sound is benedini mini with additional amplifier, and 2 box speakers. Subwoofer is an under seat pioneer car speaker.
Smoke is from rcsmokers.com and works well, it’s water based so no odours or fumes.

Open Panzer Help / Smoker advise for 1/6 needed

On my t34 1/6 scale I’m wanting a smoker.

I have the TCB smoke outlet and I have both 12 and 24v available. Also a sabertooth esc.

I have a tarr on the 1/16 tank with less than impressive results.

I’m looking at rcsmokers.com and a water based unit is appealing.
Would I need a 6v, 12v or 7.2v with or without esc. Confused.

Any recommendations or advise would be great.
I’ll upload some build pictures soon.
