Hi Kim, what is NT1 - Net_Tie_2 on the PCB?  I'm working on a Bill of Materials with part numbers and prices for Digikey electronics here in the USA which I can post, when complete, if there is any interest.

Cheers,

Show and Tell / 3D printed 1/10 scale IS-1 Russian Tank
« on: August 21, 2020, 10:15:44 PM »
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and thought I'd show you my 3D printed IS-1. It is pretty big at 1/10 scale and was my first tank.  I am retired and started 3D printing 1 year ago when I bought my first Creality Ender 5.  My first big project was a 1/10 scale Tatra 815-7.  While assembling it I came across Lubos Hort's gorgeous IS-1 which compelled me to build.  It is available through links on Youtube, Thingiverse and Cults3D.  It is a well designed tank with a very nice build guide. You can see the build guide on Thingiverse if you wish.
The IS-1 took close to 300 hours to print and I ended up buying a second Ender 5 to speed up the process. They are great, economical printers that are reliable and print well.
I ended up using a custom sound board for the tank, designed by TheDIYGuy999 on Youtube. It is a sound/light/motion control board that was originally designed for trucks and cars, but he added some customization for tracked vehicles and tanks.  The board is based on the ESP32 and I really like how it controls my Tatra, but for my tanks, i think a TCB is the answer.  I am working on building Kim/HECLO 's TCB hat that goes on an Arduino Mega 2650 board and hope to put it in my IS-1 and the T-35a that I am printing now.

Here is my IS-1. Please let me know if you have any questions about it.

Hi Kim, I'm trying to put together a BOM spreadsheet, but when I view your Kicad schematic there appear to be holes in it. (please see attachment)

The schematic appears complete in the PDF version you uploaded, but some of the values are overwritten by other components and the values or names can not be read.

Is there a problem with the uploaded schematic you posted above, or is this a configuration setting in my installation of Kicad. Sorry, I don't know how to use that Ecad software, so maybe I just don't have it set up correctly.

Regards,
Joe

Thanks very much HECLO. Now that the code is posted I will order the PCBs.  I have two tanks that will need your board. One is built already (my IS-1) and I'm working on a second tank, a T-35.

I appreciate your efforts to design this board and software and thank you for being generous enough to share it with us on the forum!
Regards,
Joe

Open Panzer Help / Re: Smoke questions.
« on: August 18, 2020, 03:41:50 PM »
I bought a V6.0 Heng Long smoker on Ebay recently and is working pretty well. They seem to have done some improvements on the unit as several mods I read about on the forum that Luke mentioned above https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-tanks-369/5806555-heng-long-tiger-smoke-unit-repair-mod.html

I think most of those guys are running  14 to 18 ohm resistors, preferably wire wound.

On my unit, I added a 5 volt fan to improve the airflow through the unit.  Got the info here: https://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=8027

That helped improve the smoke from the unit, but kept the pulsating effect that you get from the piston air pump.

This is how I mounted the fan:

I found my best improvement was to run Johnson's baby oil in the Heng Long and to route the smoke tubes as direct as possible to avoid kinks, bends, etc.
You can see the improvment here:

I think it is easy to waste a lot of time on smokers, at least I sure did!  I'm pretty happy with it now. I can run it for 20 minutes or so with 3ml of baby oil in it on my 3D printed IS-1 tank .

Show and Tell / Re: 3D Printed T-35
« on: August 14, 2020, 07:48:15 PM »
Hello everyone!
The T-35 is finished, and its done in less than a year!
It has been detailed (with some help) to the best of my abilities and is now mechanically reliable enough for me to be satisfied with.
Please see below some shots of the finished product. More shots and videos will be posted when I gather all the files for Thingiverse.
Let me know what you think!

Dean, the tank is simply amazing, so much complexity and detail!  Were all the parts printed on an FDM printer or were some of the fine detail done using a resin printer?

I am currently assembling the tracks and almost done printing the hull pieces. I have two Ender 5 printers so things go a little faster. Still, this will fill a big chunk of my 'Covid-19 downtime'.

Hello everyone!

I have been following the Open Panzer project for a while and in my education as a electronics technician I made a "shield" that fit on an arduino mega 2560 R3 board, with most of the functions of the Open Panzer TCB and the Open Panzer sound card onboard, plus some extras.
......
It has been tested in so far 6 different tanks with great results.

I have attached the schematics and a pinout rendering for those interested.

Wow, this is very interesting! I am currently building a tank and am looking for a control board. Having the control and sound integrated into one package is quite appealing.

Do you have a BOM (bill of materials) prepared that you could share?  Is there a site (perhaps Youtube or ??) where I could see some of your tanks in operation?

I'm building a T-35a and it will need a control board.Definitely interested!
Cheers,
Joe in Pennsylvania USA

Nothing has been written here for 7 days ...
Is there no longer a TCB user?
I'm new to Open Panzer and am trying to get up to speed on the TCB and some of the new offshoots that are recently available here in the developer forum. I've only recently gotten involved with Tanks, having 3D printed a 1/10th scale Russian IS-1. I am currently working on a 1/16th scale T-35a and will need a TCB to control all the turrets it sports. Trying to learn what will work best.
Cheers,
Joe in Pennsylvania.
