Title: Capturing existing vehicles digitally
Post by: x1cygnus on November 28, 2018, 08:22:03 PM
A digital library of unit dimensions and digital files could be gathered so that any unit could be built to scale.
World of tanks, and other games have troves of digital data, if it could be shared it would allow modelers all over the world
the ability to 3d print models of all units.
If the museums could scan all their units they could be posted for us all to enjoy and model tanking could have so much more variety.
There are a few places on line with a few files and some are very good.
this should be by no means free but with 3d printers in house you would be able to print good scale models and detailing could be left to the modeler. CURRENTLY WORKING ON su76I IN 1/16 WITH Heng Long chassis as base

Funny you mention this.  It would be fantastic.  I was just looking for line drawings of the RU-251 online a few nights ago to use for a scratch build.  Needless to say, I found none.
