Title: Use Built-in drivers for tank control
Post by: johnnyvd on February 02, 2018, 01:56:07 PM
Hi Luke, i know that the built-in drivers are by far not strong enough to push a 1/16 RC tank forward.
But how would they fare in the little 1/35 Jagdpanther i attached?

Will this work or am i'm going to blow up the TCB? I got 9 openpanzer lying around (free shipping at Hobbyking and only 35 euro a piece :o) but rather ask then smoking one..

First, let me state my disclaimer that I have repeated so many times now people are probably getting tired of hearing it, but the only way to answer these questions is for you to measure the actual current draw of the motors - then you know exactly what you are working with, and what you need.

As described in the Wiki the onboard drivers can source 2 Amps each (http://openpanzer.org/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:tcb:tcbinstall:motors:onboard). I would be very surprised if a 1/35 scale pulled anywhere near that, so almost certainly you will be fine. In fact the onboard drivers would be probably be adequate for most 1/24 scale models.
