Title: Track Recoil on Cannon (RX) Hit
Post by: Wankel on February 02, 2026, 03:54:01 PM
Hey There!

I have successfully deployed the OP Board twice now, once in a Chaffee and also a StuG, which is my current project. I am curious if we could create a custom scenario that causes the track recoil to trigger on firing and on receiving a hit from the enemy. It could even mirror the track recoil settings, so whatever the OP Config is set to is what makes it recoil on hits and on firing.

One complaint I have received is that its too hard to tell when the tank gets hit. I really enjoy the light sequence that was selected, but maybe that can also be changed to flash like the HL tanks do.

Is this possible?

Do you like the track recoil effect? On stock henglong it always seems harsh and not realistic. Not that heavy tanks do recoil back..but
what settings are you using for track recoil?

I do, it also helps with IR battling and knowing the tank has been hit. Its harsh on a HL board because the HL boards are not very sophisticated and lack the options OP offers. My settings are very slight on firing right now.

What I am asking for is the track recoil to trigger when the tank receives a hit.

Totally understand. Curious what your track recoil is currently set at?

I didn't think I would like the effect based on HL tanks but it is actually cool. Not that a Tiger Tank rocks back on firing but
it is a nice visual effect with the cannon recoil! I like 15% and 200 MS. Yes TCB makes it a viable option!

Hi Wankel,

I've added an option for track recoil on IR hit received, you'll see a checkbox for it in OP Config on the Driving tab under the Track Recoil setting.

It's important also to keep in mind, that the track recoil will only occur if your tank is stopped - whether when firing the cannon or receiving a hit. If either of those things happen while you're driving around, there will be no track recoil. This is to protect the model's geartrain.

This change requires you to update both OP Config and the TCB firmware to the latest version (v0.94.04). This particular change will also delete all the settings on the TCB, so before you update the firmware you should read your settings into OP Config, then flash the firmware, then re-write your settings.

I've not changed the light sequence for IR hit, that is more work than I felt like doing, sorry...

Finally, I don't have a TCB or model to test these changes on, so if you could verify that the track recoil works when it receives an IR hit, I'd appreciate if you'd let me know.

You are amazing, thank you very much sir!

The light sequence is not an issue, dont worry about it.

In 3 more posts you will be 1337, definitely checks out!

I'm sorry to say that reference went right over my head! I'd say the real 31337 is the guy who knows hacker-slang better than I do. But maybe in two more posts I'll reach your level.  ;)

Successfully tested sir, thank you again!
