Hi, I'm currently in the process of building up my cheetah piece by piece.. and I'm using my TX16S, which I have for my FPV copter flights anyway.. but the left stick doesn't have a spring, so I would like to have the left stick for throttle and a switch where I can then can shift into reverse gear.
Is this possible ?

To my surprise, the answer to your question is: yes. I had forgotten all about it, but this question has come up before and we created a work around that does exactly what you describe.
See the Manual Transmission (https://openpanzer.org/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:tcb:operation:functionlist#transmission) entry in the Functions list.
But basically there are three functions called "Manual Transmission - Forward / Reverse / Neutral" that you can assign to a three position switch. Presently it does require a three position switch for all three functions, so a two position switch wouldn't work.
