Sorry all for the big delay. Due to a lot of work on my house and a new demanding job the Gepard project was put on hold for some time. I hope i will be finding the time to restart it this year. When i do, i will be posting progress and the 3D files!

Hi Luke,

Thanks for your help. I got the Sketch loaded by using a Arduino UNO on ICSP. Red light, blue light. everything works..
Guess my FTDI adapter is a cheap copy.. Any suggestions on a good brand/type to buy?

Only problem i have now is that my M2 channel is not working like in one of the previous posts. It seems i have a short on the lower pads (i guess)..

Almost certainly the issue is a short on the motor driver chip M2 during reflow. This is not hard to do, and I have done it myself on occasion.

If i manage to remove the chip, is it still usable after the short?

Well, i tried to burn the bootloader several times, but my guess was that the Atmel was not genuine (well, i could not trace back the source).
I ordered several from Farnell so i have a trustworthy source. Also ordered some new SMD LED just to be sure that i have the specification of the cathode side.

Desoldered the old Atmel and soldered the new one back (hail the desoldering station!) and even desoldered an soldered the SMD Led's to check polarity..
Turned on verbose in ArduinoISP and burned the bootloader. Got some errors, but then with magnifying glasses it found some pins where not soldered right.

Second time Bootloader burning Logging say's everything went ok.. But no flashing leds? Maybe they burned out from reversed polarity?
Also i still get the same error when i try to flash the Firmware.. Still not responding..

Loading the sketch using the ICSP is not completely clear to me.. What sketch should i upload? Do you have a Firmware Sketch available?

Hey luke, i recently reflowed an older version of the Scout. Everything looks fine, but i'm not able to get bootloader/firmware installed.

I used an Arduino UNO as ISP to Burn the Bootloader to the Scout. ArduinoISP says "Done Burning Bootloader" with no further info.
But when i try to upload the firmware with a FTDI i get a "programmer not responding" error..:

avrdude : stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude : stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x3e

Also, no leds on the Scout are flashing.. I guess this is normal with only the bootloader on it?
Something wrong with my FTDI programmer? Or are there suspects on the board that could cause this?

Cheers, John

So I just fit your design into a KV-2 Taigen.  Here is a picture.  Works great now, larger speaker, and more smoke.  Nothing to modify, it fits in nice and tight.

What software do you use to design the .stl files?? I would like to do something for my T55A, T34 and Sherman.

Jerry

Hi Jerry, nice to see it fits the KV series also (did not try myselves), i'm can confirm it fits the Torro Leopard 2A6 Also!

I use Siemens Solid Edge 2019 at the moment. This is because it is our company standard together with Siemens Teamcenter PLM solution.

I could share the STEP or Parasolid files with you if you want.. You can modify them in a synchronous 3D CAD package (like Autodesk Fusion 360).

Both SolidEdge and Fusion have "Educational versions" that you are allowed to use for personal use.

TCB Dev / Re: Testing TCB Firmware with Stock Arduino Mega
« on: November 12, 2019, 06:47:46 AM »
Dear LukeZ, long time no see, I my very busy before, and now I can take a break.
I have made some sound card without teensy, and it works well. So my next step it to design some TCB card for my trucks. I wound make you a surprise when all the things finshed, but TCB does not work. So I have to get some help from you.
In fact I have made some TCB from empty pcb and new atmega2560. Is the bootloader for TCB  special? I use stk500boot_v2_mega2560.hex as bootloader, is that right? When I finished flash the bootloader , I connect TCB with USB but OP config can't connect.
Can you tell my some detials about how can I make a empty 2560 be a TCB? Thank you.
And here is my sound card, It is just 5*3 cm .

Hi Luck, very nice soundcards! How can we make/acquire these? Do you have Gerber files/BOM lists?

At least the gun appears to be stationary...

But not for long! I ordered a Merit 1:18 to get the details right and the Metal Denix gun is already broken down in smal pieces to make it fully articulate.
This also incorporated recoil etc..

Heh, beautiful! Nice to see my logo is still on!

ABS would be sufficient for the heat. It will probably also be resistant to the smoke-oil is guess..
I will change the design "as proposed" I normally just cut the Henglong smokers down to size because they are so cheap. But integrating would be nice..

For my Famo Builds i need to design a speaker/smoker combo also.. So integrating would be a logical step.

As soon as these are ready i will be sharing them again!

Great to hear that you can use them! I normally don't have to use a valve or something, just close off the box and leave only the hole opposite of the smoker open. Keep some distance and it works like on the video!
if you have any other good idea's please let me know!

Very nice unit Rad! And i must say its a very nice camo-job! Not too dark.

Love the  zimmerit work also.. Well done!

But i would not be able to keep myselves from knocking off some of the fenders and put some dents and scratches on it  ;D but great work!

And if this all wasn't enough, see what turned up in my workshop a few days ago..

Guess how much work the Openpanzer will have to do..

Hi Jerry, Sorry for the late response. Too busy with many other things than tanks..

The trick about the acoustic smoker is that the Henglong smoker has the "pump" unit cut-off.
Then drill the teensy small hole to 4mm.. The speaker enclosure should be fully closed except for one single 4mm hole. Line up the two holes and eperiment with a little space between them!

Thats it! No membrane, valve or whatsoever.. Works like a charm!

So I think I wont upload more voices or extra sounds until somebody requests them. Please tell me when (or if) the sounds are uploaded (sherman sounds too), so I can remove them from my one drive account

Hi, i downloaded the german voices, would you please make the Sherman sounds available too? I really would like to use these!

*nevermind, i see that the sound sets are uploaded to Github... Thank you for sharing!
